China Perspectives was launched in 1994, as the sister publication of the French-print scientific journal created in 1992 by Michel Bonnin (Chief Editor from 1992 to 1998) and by Raphaël Jacquet: Perspectives chinoises. Interdisciplinary in orientation, China Perspectives provides in-depth analyses of current changes and perspectives in the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
China Perspectives is an academic journal based on anonymous peer review. Its editorial board is made up of scholars from renowned international institutions. Contributions typically present first-hand research on developments in the field, while contextualizing it within the larger intellectual trends that shape the understanding of China today.
A serious yet readable journal, China Perspectives has already proven essential for sinologists and Asia analysts, but its wide-ranging perspectives and highly informative articles will be of interest to anyone keen on furthering their knowledge about Greater China.
As of 2007, the journal has been entirely redesigned to contain the following sections:
Special focus:
- comprehensive analysis of a prominent theme or aspect of recent developments in greater China;
- a combination of different approaches that relies on the latest academic studies as well as featuring interviews with experts.
Other research articles:
Original first-hand research articles focusing on other topics related to contemporary China.
China Analysis/News from China:
- A section created jointly with the Asia Centre (Paris), and which features two articles from its electronic journal, China Analysis;
- Critical synthesis of recent articles published by the Chinese press or Chinese journals in the field of social and political science.
Book reviews:
Reviews of the latest significant international publications on contemporary China
