提到MIT的凯皮斯，学建筑的人可能知道的不多；可是提到林奇，建筑系的人都知道。然后，林奇当年研究城市意象时，合作者就是凯皮斯。这本关于视觉语言的书，是现代视觉语言的一本经典。很包豪斯。
