The beetles, members of the Order Coleoptera are the largest order of insects, with about 40 % of known species of total insect world or about 400,000 species. My first edition of this book was published in 2002 and was also the first book of beetles available in Thailand. This is a revised edition, emphasizing the species content and possibility of additional species for all those beetle families, this edition contains 509 species as compared to the first edition which included only 362 species and subspecies.

amazon reviews--4.0 out of 5 starsGreat really great book, but with sadly a technical flaw,June 25, 2013
I am really pleased with this book. It is a very extensive jet accessible book. It contains many pictures of about 540 species and subspecies. It reads easily and is made with care and love for the beetles. The son of the author runs the Siam insect zoo.
As a graphic designer I notice one, I should say in this case, major flaw. The black ink in the printing has way to much saturation. This is disturbing cause it ruins many photo's. and the fine colour palettes of the beetles and hides many detail in black.
If you are a completist or collector this will certainly appeal to you. Disregarding the technical flaw this is a really great book.
