Compared to other authors who write about Asia yet do not speak any Asian languages, Richard knows things about East Asia. I am impressed by his grasp of the differences between Chinese and Japanese. However, he should limit his arguments to the day-to-day cultural level instead of expanding to geopolitical level with his neoliberalism linear mind.

最后几章有点太宏观抽象，其他还蛮写实的。就是有些内容感觉过时了。

从一个美国人视角研究美中日思维方式差异。还挺有意思的，虽然有一些观点我不认同，但是要承认作者对东西文化思维的差异做出了一些深入研究。与他自己分析的美国人思维一样，他写这本书的整体结构也很“美式”。
