Twentieth-Century Russian Drama

A survey in English of Russian drama since Chekhov, that is from Gorky, who was the first contemporary of Chekhov to achieve fame as a dramatist, to the present. Originally published in 1979 by Columbia U. Press, the present updated (but not revised) edition adds a new chapter surveying the more significant achievements in Russian drama in the decade from 1979 to 1989. The appendix listing 20th-century Russian drama in English has also been updated.
