Rushed up to finish reading this book prior to partaking in our monthly Book Club. Well I barely understood the plot and didn't find myself enjoy reading it very unfortunately probably 'cause I didn't pick this book lol. What's worse, I auto-translated it to be the Chinese version and listened to the audio book so as to be handier (shouldn't've!)..
在book club收到这本书的时候脑子里第一个想法是skip下次的meeting，但是读完第一章就开始对这个故事感兴趣了，在猎巫的背景下是对人性的拷问。Immanuelle和Leah之间的友谊着墨不多，但几次令人落泪，爱情线也看得人心潮澎湃，Immanuelle一次次拒绝被豢养、被矮化、被救赎，Ezra也在她的拒绝中学会了平等和尊重。最后当Immanuelle选择let it be的时候，哇这才是我想要的结局，人类的麻烦交给人类，与神力和巫术无关，作者的价值观跟我在一个点上。
