讲述流动的性别，探索复杂的社会属性和内在属性。作者把人物的心路历程刻画得十分细致，推动读者思考要如何面对自己的性别，以及如何面对人际关系网中的身份特征带来的问题。文本中也直接地提供了许多思考，或者说是写了很多辛辣的小段子。不过这个剧情线写法长得真像大热美剧，意思是猝不及防。

男女组成的婚姻单位是社会运转的语言法则，如同二进制之于计算机。LGBTQA群体被边缘化，是因为他们的存在挑战了二进制语言，进而挑战了社会框架。作者在书中探讨的一个cis女性、一个前跨性别男性和一个跨性别女性一起组建一个家庭，在我看起来，可太激进了。
