Great casebook by a great professor, October 2, 2003

I am taking Professor Phelan's Art and Museum Law Class at Texas Tech University School of Law and she is phenominal, and the casebook really facilitates learning in a practical manner. She is truly an expert and it is a great joy to be able to boast that Texas Tech has one of the foremost experts on Art and Museum Law. Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? Good reference, May 4, 2008

Good reference for museum law, but at times I really just wanted a bulleted list. The exercises reference laws and other information not always included in the book, so it should be paired with Malaro's "A Legal Primer on Managing Museum Collections," which will fill in the blanks (and provide the bulleted lists). The book does, however, give you a good selection of real cases to read, and the ability to read cases is a handy skill for anyone working with collections or IP or any other legal matters in museum work. I'm not in a position to judge the appropriateness of the cases selected, but they did help to illuminate areas of art and museum law referenced in other books I've read on the topic.
