这本书可以算是物质文化研究最重要的论文合集之一了。各篇先立，然后入集，Susan Pearce具有足够的资格和眼光，因此，无一篇虚字。编辑时显然出自如何在博物馆这个失去情境的情境下认识物质的焦虑，但是却始料不及地折射出其他有情境的也不知道如何研究情境。
