Yet the writing style is too serious and intense, made worse by lacklustre characters (especially Ethan…), making it anything but exciting and engaging.

本来看到一半就想弃了，主要还是围绕Billy的失踪展开，几乎也没有其它延伸的故事（毕竟一个社区奇奇怪怪的事可以写很多），到疑似邪教的Hawthorne Institute感觉又挺精彩…结局确实有些潦草，会觉得闹了这么大的失踪案真相居然如此草率

strikeout！（作者试用期终于到了）他写男角确实感觉好多了，主要是文笔和narrative比较配适。整体节奏松散到局促，事件太少，比lasttimeilied还拖拉，然后又硬塞了太多twists，老毛病了。角色刻画稍有潜力，很多地方情绪都到位，但还是流于表面，程式化重没有内核（这种节奏要求有无声告白一半不过分吧）。主线不难猜到，但也不至于太无聊。比lastoneleft好忍多了，也可能阈值被搞低了。

riley sager水平依然在线，悬念从一开始就抓人到最后，虽然看悬疑小说多了，看到主角一个个人怀疑过去又排除嫌疑，到后面基本也能猜出是那个之前没提到过有嫌疑的人

悬疑了大半本书最后的结局竟然是一个人温情的故事 也好吧
