作者以批判角度重新审视以本地食物为首的各种食物运动。指出他们的白人精英本质，与食品产业的合谋，提醒美国读者人们要考虑的是整个国际食物现状，而不是自己对于土地的怀旧臆想。但是从“肉”处画风突变，充满个人感情的煽动宣讲，目不忍视。以及整体从科技角度分析，缺乏对食物社会文化象征的理解
