Goldman is a brilliant scholor in Chinese studies with her span knowledge of contemporary China. In the collection, however, I failed to see her writings with some selections(e.g journalism one) a little bit weak to highlight. Preface written by Edward is highly recommended specially the generalization of definition of Chinese intellectuals.
