Love the parallel story telling on the nuclear and chem/bio weapon front. Riveting account on the unraveling of the Cold War arms race. I also like the way the author managed to remind the readers at the reoccurrence of specific names of who they are and what they do. The effort to glorify Americans in this epic history is somewhat disappointing.

书中写到苏联解体后其科学家的处境令人感慨，风洞专家竟然考虑用风洞来干燥木材，进行“商业化转型”来谋生。美国随便施舍一点小钱就让俄罗斯科学家感激涕零，真是人穷志短。一些绝密的信息，如半自动末日机器的运行机制，也都主动交代给了美国作家。更多的则是幻灭之后的叛逃。这类事在俄罗斯历史上不是唯一，以后可能还会再发生。帝国崩溃，覆巢之下，安有完卵。这本书实在是太长太啰嗦，而美国的黑暗面又全未涉及。
