我覺得韋勒貝克在文學上的貢獻就是，他指出了一個新形態的人，在這樣安逸的年代，人們對生活已經沒有熱忱，只剩下金錢和性愛可以維繫生命，然而僅只兩個選擇人們是不會滿足的，於是出現第三種人，以他者的角度去看待自己的人生，絕對的漠然，卻是純然的慈悲。
