We don’t need to wait until we die in order to know what will happen to us. Looking deeply in the present moment, we see that birth and death are taking place in us at every moment, both in our bodies and in our consciousness. In every moment of our daily lives there is input and there is output. We breathe in; we take in food; and we have new ideas and new feelings. We breathe out, defecate, and let go of ideas and feelings. So air and water, the whole cosmos, is going through us, renewing us, and we are returning other things to the cosmos.
