This short collection of poetry and prose has been written to display how the mind of a child and adult can express human emotion through language. Even before birth we are subject to sensory stimulation, whether a heartbeat, warmth, light or touch. This is the way early childhood is experienced and through adulthood being expressed through language and art. When we give children a chance to express their unadulterated emotion we enter their interpretation of the outside world. Encouraging observation is a cornerstone of teaching children to think outside the boundaries of conventionality. The poem Moonbug, stems directly from Chlo?'s experience in Florida when out in the evening looking at the night sky she has come in later and been dismayed to see bites on her arms and legs. Sometimes funny, silly or sad these poems are presented to provoke thought in children and those adults fortunate enough to read to them. Seeing the world through a child's eyes refreshes our perspective. For the child such a connection with an adult sets up a lifelong love of learning. We hope you enjoy these poems and that you encourage your children to write, draw and celebrate the gift of imagination
