Ancient prose itself, such as the Dialogues of Plato, could not be regarded as anything but  poetry. He was so convinced of this fact that several years before writing the Operette, he had stated in his diary that prose was more suitable than verse to modern poetry. Obviously, he applied this principle when he wrote his essays and dialogues.
