Reivew-The Raven King (The Raven Cycle, #4) by Maggie Stiefvater
So I finally finished The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater which is the final book in The Raven Cycle. For me personally, the most memorable thing would certainly be the characters, from poor Adam who you can’t help but feel sympathetic towards, yet also wish he would calm down and stop arguing at times, to short little Blue, who is in such a terrible dilemma in that she will kill her true love if she kisses him.
Each book is of equal length and more or less set out in a reasonably similar format, with the first part of the book setting up the stage for what is to come and ending with a plot twist and maybe some character deaths. They almost end up getting slightly repetitive in their nature which is sort of why I gave each book 4 stars and did not raise or lower it as the general feel of each book is roughly the same, not that it is necessarily a bad thing. Due to this, I liked each instalment about the same amount, which was quite a fair bit.
I have said this many, many times, but the characters really well written and in some books where the search for Glendower may not progress all that much, we, the reader really gets to some pretty darn good character development, and in books where the plot does progress a significant amount, we get to stay with these awesome individuals on their journey.
It’s the last book, so it’s hard to talk about stuff without spoiling it but what I guess if anyone hasn’t read it yet are looking for a series with thrilling adventure, sick characters and Welsh lore, then this may very well be the series you may want to consider to put in your tbr. 8/10
