Being fixing to kill a gift of God, that was the first time they ever felt relly actually in danger of hell. So, one day when they ended up standing in front of the God, would they be forgiven just because it was their jobs?
John Coffey, a big boy, "smelled of Ivory soap", "as clean and fresh as a baby after his evening bath" on the Eve of his death.
It's broken heart to read "I want to go" from his mouth peacefully and hopefully. He chose to go because he was too tired. He was tired of the pain he heard and felt. He was tired of being on the road, lonely as a robin in the rain, not never having no buddy to go on with or tell him where he's comng from or going to or why. He was tried of people being ugly to each other, killing them by their love. He was tired of all the times He had wanted to help and couldn't. He was tired of being in the dark. Mostly it's the pain. There's too much. If he could end it, he would have. But he couldn't.
At last, he was led to the Old Sparky for the evil made by someone else. He was buffeted in the wave of the rage. At the end of his life, What he had were two eyes filled with fear, misery, incompletion and incomprehension. They were the eyes of a traped or terrified animal. Was the seeing off way what he desearved and nothing going wrong again?
Hope he can return to the heaven and be given peace.
"Baby Jesus, meek and mild, pray for me, and orphan child. Be my strength, be my friend, be with me until the end. Amen"
