To find beauty in life
I read the English version of the story of my life recently, which is my first reading of mere English. To my surprise, I do not fell an atmosphere of sad and painful struggle on the whole,. Instead, a sense of love and warm surrounds me and I learn a lot through her soothing lines,
Helen Keller, who was stricken with blindness and deaf at the age of only 19 months, got through the difficulties that were laid ahead and became the one of the greatest women in history. I think love plays a great role in the whole life of Keller. When young, although she was bogged in the world of dark and silence, she received great love from her family, friends and her patient and loving teacher, who gave her early education and laid the foundation of her life. It is hardly to imagine what Helen will become without the caring of people around her. Helen mentions particularly the part of her understanding the word “love”, the first abstract word she learns. Touching the heart of her teacher and feeling the beat, Helen gradually knows the invisible love. During her later life, she engages in disseminating love to others especially those have the same difficulties as hers in life.
On the last chapter—there days to see, I am awoken with my absence of appreciating the beautifulness of the world with my eyes. Perhaps we are so inured to them that we can not enjoy the beauty. Maybe every now and then we should self-retrospect, for example, are we understate the love around us, are we neglecting the beauty of nature, are we doing something that we may regret in the soon future? We should never lose the heart to find beauty, which is the main pursue of our life.
By reading this book, one must have something to find.
