I don't like agents
Most of the contents make sense, but I believe in statistics and charts more than narrative stories. I think this book is quite good and easy to understand, but some parts lack precise figures to support and explain certain phenomenon.
Single cases should not be stressed as a solid supporting material for an idea. It should be isolated to consider with a broader frame of reference.
I think the author over-generalized the online users a little bit. Online users are like real life customers should be segmented to distinguished groups with different characters and habits.
In the book, the author acclaims people are more prone to trust strangers nowadays and people depend on strangers more than ever. But last semester, if my memory serves me right, a survey showed people still trust whom they know than conventional mediums and strangers. Besides, the main purpose of being a successful “trust agent” is to make online “friends” with customers or stakeholders. Therefore, I think the premise aforementioned is ungrounded. Professionals are rational enough believing in statistics and figures, common people are emotional enough believing their friends and relatives, not strangers. This premise requires more supporting materials rather than acclaiming.
