蒙古人之后,西班牙地理大发现之前
这篇书评可能有关键情节透露
Very amazing book that documented a tangier or morocco judge/ shariah lawyer traveled from Maghreb->Egypt->Syria->Iraq/Iran->Mecca->east Africa->Anatolia/ turkey-> ukraine->central Asia/ khorasan-> northern India-> southwest India-> Maldives/ Indian archipelago-> java/Sumatra-> south china/zeitung& canton
这本书是一个摩洛哥的法官/伊斯兰法的律师花了20年穿越欧亚非大陆的游记。
他从北非出发-->埃及-->叙利亚->伊拉克伊朗->麦加->东部非洲->土耳其->乌克兰->中亚(khorasan,也就是现在的乌兹别克斯坦那一片)->北部印度->印度西南部->马尔代夫群岛->爪哇->中国南部(福建的泉州和广东的广州)
然后他回了摩洛哥/西班牙
This journey took place in 14 th century, right after the Mongolians swept across the Eurasia, and after the Black Death in Europe.
Also Spain was under Muslim rule, the Andalusia whose capital is Granada. India is also under Muslim rule, and the spice trade in south India in Kerala.
Ibn battuta did described Indians as infidels though, and certainly Javanese and Chinese. He also said people in Maldives got mouth like those of dogs.....wtf?......
他的旅行发生在14世纪,在蒙古人扫平亚欧大陆之后,也是欧洲黑死病发生之后。
那个时候西班牙是穆斯林统治,安达路西亚的首都,格兰纳达。那个时候印度也是穆斯林统治,还有南部的香料贩卖。
一宾-巴图塔 也确实形容印度人是异教徒,还有爪哇人和中国人。他貌似还说马尔代夫人嘴巴像狗,哈哈哈哈。。。。
Because the author traveled such a vast area and book is only like 200+ pages, each region only has a few words of Ibn tattuta's rough impression.
因为这个作者跑了这么远的地方,然后这本书只有200多页,每个地区他就两句话很粗略的印象就带过了。
His description of Middle East is most boring, full of description of the regimes and rulers named, all in very long and similar Arabic.
他对中东的描述是最无聊的,全部都是很官方的对当地政权和统治者名字的记录,全部都是很长然后又长得很相似的阿拉伯名字。
The format of the book also makes reading a bit distracting, with English translation on top, English and Arabic footnote at the bottom, usually the footnote is much longer than the paragraph themselves.
这本书的形式也让读这本书的过程让人有点晕。上半部分是英语的翻译,下半部分是英语和阿拉伯语的注释,然后注释常常比文章主体要长很多。
My reading of book was greatly aided by the BBC FOUR's documentary made by an Oxford scholar, and nationalist channels show and also Penn Museums's great voyage series.
我读这本书多亏了BBC 4台一位牛津的学者主持的一个纪录片,还有nationalist频道的一个节目,还有宾夕法尼亚大学博物馆的伟大的航行的系列的一个学者的讲座。
