Whitehead brilliantly recreates the unique terrors of black life in pre-Civil War America. The Underground Railroad is at once a kinetic adventure tale of one woman's ferocious will to escape the horrors of bondage and a shattering, powerful meditation on the history we all share.

Reading is such a personal choice. With all the hype and big name prizes, I don’t feel emotionally connected with the characters. The book is beautifully written and the storyline is fine.

看完的一刻点开歌单是一首名叫it unfolds 的歌,歌词几句「Open her eyes and shes smaller than anything shes ever known / Floating in nothingness running from everything shes ever known」巧合般地和这部地下铁道暗合。
