Mind is inherently universal, but in its limited form, as the minds of particular people, it is not aware of its universal nature- that is, particular people do not see themselves as all part of the one universal Mind. Singer写的马克思导论，按照时间的脉络叙述其思想发展。Singer的诠释既是对马克思的批评，也是对他的辩护：一方面，他从可检验的角度，否定了马克思理论是一种科学；另一方面，他又将马克思看作哲学家，其思想理论对资本主义社会有深刻的揭示。值得一提，Singer没有站在效益主义的角度批评马克思，反倒是提到马克思对效益主义的批评——后者质疑，为了“最大多数人的幸福”，其实只是为了巩固统治阶级的利益而建... 共产主义实践的失败不是马克思的黑锅，但是他思想中相信人性的恶是资产阶级制度带来的而不是天生的部分，还是太乐观太理想化。看的有点伤感，真正大同的世界是不会存在的吧。
