In Destiny Disrupted, Tamim Ansary tells the rich story of world history as the Islamic world saw it, from the time of Mohammed to the fall of the Ottoman Empire and beyond. 见惯了从西欧角度来看待伊斯兰和中东，本书从伊斯兰教徒的视角来看待世界历史，读来很有启发。当然，自己写自己，总会有些传说不便细究，不过总体来说还是尽量做到了公正。3个枪炮帝国那一长段太有英雄传奇的史诗感了，很激动人心。
