Paul Torday was born in 1946 and read English Literature at Pembroke College, Oxford. He is married with two sons by a previous marriage and has two stepsons. He has spent most of his life in industry, but in the last three years has found the time to write. For the last fifteen years he has also been a keen salmon fisherman, and as he lives close to the River North Tyne, he has been able to indulge in this enthusiasm. I thought I liked it...not so much as I think of it now. One would never really "learn" anything from it, being a good read as it is. Definitely not "funny" as a comedy.

Robert和Shiekh死了，Harriet去法国了，Fred和Mary继续着分居两地名存实亡的婚姻。写得很现实，现实不如电影圆满，多了些思考，看了平添几分怅惘。

I thought I liked it...not so much as I think of it now. One would never really "learn" anything from it, being a good read as it is. Definitely not "funny" as a comedy.

英式黑色幽默笑倒我。但是不喜欢作者狡猾地用受害者视角来描写Mary, 总应该是两个人的无趣和功利造成婚姻寡淡，怎么只算在一方头上。 看到后面才意识到的隐喻：野生鲑鱼一条都舍不得送，但是鲜活的年轻生命却被一批批的送去死。
