The New York Times referred to him as “the poet laureate of medicine,” and over the years he received many awards, including honors from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the Royal College of Physicians. His memoir On the Move was published shortly before his death in August 2015.

there is no such entity as “memory”, but only the dynamic process of “remembering” (he is always at pains, in his great book Remembering, to avoid the noun and use the verb).
Remembering is not the re-excitation of innumerable fixed, lifeless and fragmentary traces. It is an imaginative reconstruction, or construction, built out of the relation of our attitude towards a whole active mass of organized past reactions or experience, and to a little outstanding detail which commonly appears in image or in language form. It is thus hardly ever really exact, even in the most rudimentary cases of rote recapitulation, and it is not at all important that it should be so. (查看原文)

很多病例个人生活的介绍，非常具有人文关怀。在通勤时间audible听的，所以有的时候会大段溜号，不算很完整的读了这本。只是不符合我的期待，我以为会偏科普向，实际有点y太煽情了。

The sixth story is slightly less enjoyable than the rest. I prefer stories that mainly focus on one particular case. Overall a fantastic read.
