He’s my favourite anthropologist (probably because I studied poli sci). So happy to revisit this material when tutoring. Well written and easy to understand (compared to McLuhan)

我是真的不爱意识流小说 但单从写作技巧来说这本书都太绝了

又想起坐在学校为了纪念她命名的Virginia Woolf building里上的文学课 读她的文学评论也像站在巨人肩膀上一样看世界的另一种视角

每次读Virginia Woolf都很崩溃 但最爱确实是a room of one’s own. “if we face the fact, for it is a fact, that...our relation is to the world of reality and not only to the world of men and women, then the opportunity will come and the dead poet who was Shakespeare's sister will put on the body which she has so often laid down.”

写这本书的essay是真难受 从此再也不想读意识流 但这本书里提到的st James park等我后来去的时候 又还是会想起它

看了第一页就受不了这翻译了 原文真是Anthropology的佳作🙏

So beautifully written 一点也不意外这是best seller 翻译也充分体现了语言的诗意 “人类诞生在宇宙一隅 命运早已注定与之紧密相连”“我们由星辰所铸 如今眺望群星” we are all stardust.

Wow 😮 只能说wow
