由于对英文写作“简短有力”的要求有了新的认识，因此在书店被这本书的标题所吸引。这本书分为两个部分：How to Write Short和How to Write Short with a Purpose. 每一部分下内含十几个小章节讲述具体的写作技巧。每一节最后会有要点回顾和小写作练习。先读过On Writing Well之后再来看这本书，感觉从某种角度来讲是前一本书写作技巧的具体延伸。
