Forty years later, this now classic work has been radically revised. Adam Kuper situates the leading actors in their historical and institutional context, probes their rivalries, revisits their debates, and reviews their key ethnographies. Drawing on recent scholarship he shows how the discipline was shaped by the colonial setting and by developments in the social sciences.

Kuper有名的英国人类学史。每一版都有较大的改动，我想读的那一篇第四版删掉了。。清晰而有趣，但我不太喜欢作者贴的Durkheimian、Malinowskian的标签。划分阵营容易让读者忽略，有时候同一阵营内部对某一点的争议，可能比阵营之外的还要大。书中大牛互相臧否的八卦很多。
