He is the author of several educational books, the columnist for “Ask the Cognitive Scientist” for American Educator, and a fellow of the American Psychological Association. He was appointed in 2017 by President Obama to serve as a Member of the National Board for Education Sciences.

大脑的作用在于避免思考，思考是缓慢的、需要精力的、不确定的。大多数时候，我们依赖记忆去解决问题（比如起床、吃饭、开车等已经熟练的事，解过的数学题...）。我们喜欢解决问题，尤其是那些有些难度却看上去能解决的问题，能带给我们满足感；太难或太简单的问题，让我们丧失信心或者感觉无聊。成功的思考取决于：环境中的信息、长期记忆(事实性知识、过程性知识）、工作记忆空间的大小。 (查看原文)
