Introducing Translation Studies remains the definitive guide to the theories and concepts that make up the field of translation studies. Providing an accessible and up- to-date overview, it has long been the essential textbook on courses worldwide.
This fourth edition has been fully revised and continues to provide a balanced and detailed guide to the theoretical landscape. Each theory is applied to a wide range of languages, including Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Punjabi, Portuguese and Spanish. A broad spectrum of texts is analysed, including the Bible, Buddhist sutras, Beowulf, the fiction of García Márquez and Proust, European Union and UNESCO documents, a range of contemporary films, a travel brochure, a children’s cookery book and the translations of Harry Potter. Each chapter comprises an introduction outlining the translation theory or theories, illustrative texts with translations, case studies, a chapter summary and discussion points and exercises.

确实是introduction 但安排得很好 读起来很顺畅 和中译本对比阅读的 经常不知道中译在说什么 后来就放弃看译文了…

对欧洲翻译学理论发展的详尽梳理，涉及的学者全部站在欧洲人的角度和翻译视角展开探讨，有时候提出的东西对中国译者明显“水土不服”，比如Venuti对于异化翻译的大力倡导，真的适用于国内的中英翻译市场吗？尤其文学翻译。毕竟印欧语系和汉藏语系隔得太远。
