那么一本厚书，时间跨度只有三天。没有什么多余的东西，一如既往的海明威风格。在离别的时候，也没有催泪的东西，真不愧是硬汉。

最近还在读肯尼迪竞选总统之前写的Profiles in Courage,其中引用了海明威对于勇敢的定义，勇敢就是grace under pressure. 《丧钟》这本书就是展现这样一种极端压力下如何保持优雅的，保持这种优雅的办法是不断“出戏”去想和战争无关的事而同时又清醒地意识到自己在出戏。
