读之前没想过这么好读 不说存在即合理，至少曾经存在即曾经合理。

总结一下，中国历代政治不可用一句专制评价就可。具体来讲，中国的政治制度可分为中央和地方，作者认为历代以来汉朝的地方制度最优，唐朝的中央制度最优，唐以后各项制度劣势越显，为补缺陷导致制度越来越臃肿至近现代，所以现代政治制度最要紧的便是如何简政，而简政应做的是建立好的制度。

未读本书前，对各个朝代的政治制度有大概认知，但全无系统的认识。钱穆先生用干练的语言把两千年间的政治制度发展做了高度的抽象，观感极好。
